“Densest Suri Males Ever Recorded” *
Humming Hill Suri Alpacas recently completed the first round
of follicle testing on select suri males. The results were astonishing, as you
can see for yourself. Never before have suri males tested so well for
follicular density. Dr. Evans of Ohio
State University
conducted the tests on our farm and his report has impressed us all.

Skin biopsies are a cutting edge tool for evaluating fleece quality. Subjective assessment, such as squeezing and compressing fiber in one’s hand, is not a reliable indicator of density, but skin biopsy data is absolute. The biopsy shows how many hair follicles exist in a square millimeter of skin. The more follicles, the greater the density.
