OABA was founded in the spring of 1997 as a cooperative based nonprofit organization. With a large concentration of farms based in Ohio, many needs were emerging that could be best met by a local organization. OABA is recognized as an affiliate of the national Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA). OABA members understand the value of breeding and selling Alpaca Registry Inc. (ARI) registered Alpacas. A pedigreed ARI registered alpaca is your assurance of the very highest quality and genetics available in the marketplace today.

OABA was formed to combine the unique talents and efforts of all member farms in Ohio, regardless of size, allowing for more effective marketing, education and support, thereby facilitating success beyond those achievable as individuals.
